University of Health Sciences (UHS) has appointed former vice-chancellor of the Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad, Professor Muhammad Arslan as head of the Physiology and Molecular Biology Department.

Dr Arslan, who is a PhD from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, has over 45-year experience in university teaching, research, education and science administration. His fields of specialisation are Cell Biology, Endocrinology, and Biology of Reproduction.

He has over 90 research publications in national and international journals to his credit.

Dr Arslan has over 60 M.Phil. thesis. He has also been the chairman of Pakistan Council for Science and Technology, Islamabad. Because of his services in the field of education and research, Dr Arslan was awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 1992.
